GRINDELWALD
Grindelwald is centrally located in Switzerland, in the Jungfrau Region, the eastern part of the Bernese Oberland. At 1,034 m (3,392 ft) above sea level, the "Glacier Village" lies in the upper end of the valley of the Schwarze Luetschine River, in a hollow that is relatively flat on three sides, and it is surrounded by impressive mountain peaks. With an area of 171 km2 (66 sq miles), Grindelwald is the second largest community in the Canton of Bern.

Getting to Grindelwald:
By Plane:
Zurich-Kloten is the nearest international airport (travel time approx. 2.5 hours by car and 3 hours by train), but also the EuroAirport in Basel-Mulhouse is within approx. 3 hours. In addition, the Bern-Belp Airport with some international flights is reached within just an hour by car.
By Train:
Traveling from any place in Switzerland (or neighboring country), take international train connections to Interlaken-Ost where you need to change on to the BOB-train going to Grindelwald. When traveling from the Zurich or the Basel region, as well as from Eastern and Central Switzerland, consider connecting via Lucerne to get on the scenic train "Golden Pass" from Lucerne to Interlaken; when traveling from Geneva and the Lake Geneva Region, get to Montreux for a scenic ride on the "Golden Pass" train via the Simmental Valley to Interlaken.
By Car:
- Coming from the west (France, Lake Geneva Region) and Northern Switzerland, get to Bern to connect to Highway A6 direction Thun/Spiez, then take Highway A8 from Spiez to Interlaken; take Exit "Wilderswil" and follow the main road via Wilderswil to Grindelwald.
- Coming from Eastern Switzerland, get to Lucerne to take Highway A8 from Lucerne via the Bruenig Pass to Interlaken; take Exit "Wilderswil" and follow the main road via Wilderswil to Grindelwald.
- Coming from the south (Italy, Valais) drive to Goppenstein to put the car on the car transporter train through the Lötschberg Tunnel to Kandersteg; then drive to Spiez and take Highway A8 to Interlaken; take Exit "Wilderswil" and follow the main road via Wilderswil to Grindelwald.
