Davos Winter Sports
Skiing / Snowboarding: Davos offers glorious slopes amid spectacular scenery in the place where Alpine Skiing began in the early 1880's. Davos offers on it's 6 ski areas more than 100 runs totaling more than 300 km (190 miles) that are accessed by more than 50 mountain rides. The largest area, the Parsenn is shared with Klosters, also a well known resort on the other side of the mountain. More detailed information on our special Davos-Klosters Ski - & Snowboard Site. Davos-Klosters is part of the “Top Snowboard Resorts” (along with Ischgl, Austria, Madonna di Campiglio, Italy, and Val d’Isère, France). The group’s goal is to maintain first-rate snowboarding conditions and to advance the sport. Snowboarders enjoy a variety of runs and two half-pipes in the Jakobshorn area as well as funparks in the Pischa and Rinerhorn areas. Cross-Country Skiing: Cross-country skiers roam over 75 km (47 miles) of classic trails, and 45 km (28 miles) of trails for skating style. There also is an illuminated trail for night skiing and a lodge with a waxing room as well as trails that allow skiers to share the adventure with their dogs. Tobogganing: Davos is the cradle of sledging as an international sport. The first official sledge race was held here as early as 1883. Now found all over the world and often copied, in its hometown the famous «Davoser» has evolved into a natural track sledge. On 4 different mountains, Davos offers 4 sledge runs totaling approx. 12 km (7.5 miles). Ice Sports: Davos is the ultimate ice sports Eldorado – for active participants and spectators alike. This is guaranteed by Europe's largest natural ice rink in Davos, as well as further ice rinks across the entire region, which can be used for ice skating, speed skating, playing ice hockey, curling and Bavarian curling. In addition, the Ice Arena Davos is one of the most stunning ice hockey stadia anywhere, the HC Davos one of the most popular ice hockey clubs in Switzerland, and the Spengler Cup the most richly traditional ice hockey tournament in the world. other Winter Sports: include outdoor activities such as winter hiking and walking (111 km of snow-cleared winter foot paths), snow-shoe touring, snow-biking, lama or mule trekking, and horseback riding (guided hacks through the unspoilt landscape or horse-riding lessons at the Riding Hall in Davos Frauenkirch); adventure sports such as paragliding and ice climbing, and indoors sports such as tennis, squash, badminton, climbing and indoor golfing at the Färbi Sports Center, and swimming and water fun at the Wellness and Pleasure Pool Center.
