Crans Montana is well known as a Skier's Paradise with its perennially snow-bound mountains. The ski slopes stretch from the high plateau up to the Plaine Morte Glacier at 3,000 m (10,000 ft). Directly beyond the edge of the forest, the pistes are broad and open and thus, ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers. But also advanced and deep-snow skiers will find a challenging descent. Particularly popular are the broad carving pistes and the valley descent down the Piste Nationale which, at 12 km (7.5 miles) is the longest in the region.
